Each year, in honour of the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation, we have a special worship gathering where we learn and reflect on what it means to live in right relationship with our Indigenous neighbours. This year we have invited Marie Loeppky and Kerry Saner-Harvey, MCC's Indigenous Neighbours Program Coordinators, to facilitate the KAIROS Blanket Exercise for us on Saturday, October 4th at 6:00 pm in the chapel. This is an experiential learning tool that will help us explore the historic and current relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples of Canada. See https://mcc.org/our-stories/walk-me for more information.
There will be no Pods this evening as children are welcome to participate together with their parents. Our MCC guests know there will be children present and will adapt the activity accordingly. That said, parents should be aware that some difficult topics will be addressed (ie. residential schools) so debriefing with their children may be a good idea. This promises to be a very meaningful evening. We hope you join us!
